Dutch Angles and Downtown

Rail lines lead to the more glam parts of Chicago, to Downtown and beyond. Into the future maybe? :)

Balls, tracks and tall buildings
The Roosevelt bridge is flanked by these sculpture-works. This one is directly above the rail lines (as can be seen in the photograph, do I have to explain everything now???) Actually this is a minor mystery in itself. All I know (and I might be wrong) is that these sculptures were created by one Miklos Simon. I could not dig up any more information on these either. :)

301 W. Taylor. Looks like a prison, is actually a power station.  Built like a cube, approximately .   When I first saw the building, it was surrounded by water. There was no direct access to this place and yet there was smoke coming out of the building. It was pretty fascinating.    The latest google maps imagery shows solid ground on atleast one side of the building indicating that people drive to this place in regular cars and not hovercrafts.   However, little else is available as info about this building, on the web and otherwise. Enlighten me if you know more.   N.B. Bonus points for spotting the Sears Tower/Willis Tower between the chimneys. :)

The B&OCT Bascule Bridge, Chicago.
What you see are actually two bridges that share three weights among themselves. The B&OCT Bascule Bridge is in locked ‘upright’ position while the St. Charles Air Line Bridge is still open and working. They have a very interesting relationship, read the Wikipedia article
